Our Animal Connections

October, 2007

We are happy to present new articles and audio interviews for the October issue of Spirit of Ma'at.

CATS AND DOGS

By Cal Garrison

The creatures who share our lives with us are full of lessons that only they can teach us. They come to us as gifts and their wisdom is always of the heart. Cal Garrison's article is a story about how two dogs and a cat changed her life.

The Forgotten Angels

By Sharon Callahan

An internationally known animal communicator/healer and the creator of the 'Anaflora Flower Essences', Sharon Callahan has graciously agreed to share her work with us. 'Forgotten Angels' talks about the angelic force that lives inside our animal companions and the ways in which they heal us. Her words will help you remember that the creatures we share our lives with are much more than we take them to be.

Our Animal Companions

By Lesley Nase

Lesley Nase is an animal communicator and healer who lives in Southern Vermont. Enhanced by her shamanic skill, her work has exposed her to a variety of interesting experiences with animals and the people who live with them. This article is a sampling of those experiences. Read what Lesley has to say about the complex energies that infiltrate our relationships with our pets.

Sacred Ground International

By Tana Blackmore

This article is about a vision — a vision that came to a woman at a time when her life was suspended between a worn out past and an uncertain future. Out of that vision, Tana Blackmore was guided to create a place where wild creatures and all living things speak with the same voice — The Voice of the One Family. Her work is a miracle in progress. Tana's story will remind you of your connection to the Earth and move you to walk your talk.

Nature as Revelation and Source Of Healing

By Andrew Harvey

We would have written this article our selves but when we came across Andrew Harvey's work it seemed silly to reinvent the wheel! His words say it all. Excerpted from the third chapter of his book, 'The Direct Path', Mr. Harvey speaks eloquently about the sacredness of wild things and of the Divine Love that hides inside every facet of creation. (Pending permission from the author)

EFT for the Healing of our Pets

By Marlene Marion, EFT-ADV

Animals are much more attuned to subtle forces than human beings are — so much so that they take in our thoughts and feelings and hold them for us. The innate love and sensitivity that makes animals so open to their caretakers also makes them extremely receptive to any type of energy work. Marlene Marion has written a short piece on EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) for pets. It will remind you that you don't always have to run to the vet when your companion animals take on too much of 'your stuff'.

Cal Garrison
THE MOON CARD

It's Tarot Time! — Number 18 in the lineup of 22 Major Arcana images, The Moon is a complex and difficult to define symbol. It rules the nether regions of consciousness and the uncertainty we experience when we've lost our way. Vibrating on the line that separates instinct and logic, it calls us to balance the two. Cal Garrison's article on the Moon offers an in depth analysis of a card that defies interpretation.

Stephen Huneck Gallery

Stephen Huneck is an artist whose work honors the spirits of dogs and other creatures in a way that no other animal artist can come close to. His sculpture, prints, and furniture are all one of a kind. Take a look at his website — and if you're ever traveling through Vermont, make a point to stop at Stephen's place in Saint Johnsbury. There you will find the 'Dog Chapel' — the chapel that Stephen built out of reverence for dogs.

New in the Spirit of Ma'at Shop! Tibetan Prayer Wheel Pendants

Our new Prayer Wheel Pendants are miniature versions of the wheels found in and around the Buddhist monasteries of the Far East. Filled with the mantra, OM MANI PADME HUM written and repeated 2.2 million times, one turn of the wheel is reputed to harmonize the environment, increase compassion, encourage a peaceful state of mind, and assist the wearer on their path to enlightenment. Handcrafted in Tibet these beautiful necklaces are designed to spread light and blessings all over the world — and they are available now, in the Ma'at Shop.
