Vivi's Orchid Corner

Dear Orchid Friends:

In mid 1995, there were only a half dozen orchid sites on the web: The Orchid Mall, Venger's, Vivi's Orchids. At the end of 1995, A.O.S., R.F. Orchids and a few others joined the scene. Now there are hundreds of various orchid sites.

The original intent of the WWW is to provide information. I embrace this philosophy and believe it is still the most important reason to be on the web. Access to information and entertainment and the opportunity to share ideas with individuals from the world over is what it is all about. My goal was to build a web site that people could enjoy: friendly articles, photos, tidbits, information. I hope you enjoy Vivi's Orchids site as much as I do!

Several of the most fascinating aspects of the web are its dynamic, ever changing format and its interactivity. What other medium is so visual? Computer tekkies realize the impact the computer advancements have contributed to the web. For those of you who are more recent arrivals, we have seen incredible progress in computer capabilities. This industry is constantly improving, and subsequently, our web sites have changed dramatically as well. The saying " You've come a long way, Baby" is so true. I know Vivi's Orchids has developed, expanded and undergone a few changes. The past two years on the web have been quite informative. The web contributes to continuous improvement by the mere fact that enhancements to programs, capabilities, hardware upgrades continue. I made a few blunders over the years, but also improved skills, techniques both on the web site and in practice. As with life, one must strive to do better. A two year anniversary is a great opportunity to monitor one's course, note areas of strengths and areas for improvement. So I have taken note how Vivi's Orchids can better service the needs of our customers.

The WWW is truly a fresh and dynamic media. Kudos to those individuals creating better programs, awesome graphics, all the facets that continue to make this such an stimulating industry. So enjoy the WWW and appreciate what truly has transpired in such a short period of time. WOW!! It is satisfying to be a "pioneer" in this still emerging industry. I am anxious to see what lies ahead... These are exciting times.
